Triathlete Daniel Dixon receives platinum award grant.
At Sport Newcastle's Award Evening Daniel received an added bonus from Jonathan Edwards CBE. He'd already received the Young Sporting Achievement award for his record breaking season, which included:
2021 European Junior Triathlon Championships Silver Medalist
2021 British Elite Senior & Junior Triathlon Champion
2021 Metz French Grand Prix Champion
2021 Chateauroux French Grand Prix 3rd
For these and several other outstanding results Daniel was chosen to become our 3rd platinum award 'scholar' who each receive £1500 p.a. for 3 years. It turned out to be a very good evening for Daniel, and hopefully gave him a boost before the World Junior Triathlon championships in Portugal in November.
N.B. Daniel didn't waste his time during lockdown. He decided, with a friend, to do his 'bit' to help the NHS by doing a sponsored cycling challenge, which involved 18hrs non stop cycling on a static bike. They did this for their joint 18th birthdays and raised over £5500 for the NHS to support the fight against Covid 19.
