UNSUNG HEROES

UNSUNG HEROES 2018

We want your nominations for Unsung Heroes

and Young Unsung Heroes of Sport.

Milly Kyne, Hat-Trick volunteer receiving the Young Unsung Hero Award 2016 from Russsell Perry

Every two years Sport Newcastle recognise the Unsung Heroes of local sport at their biennial awards evening.

There are hundreds of volunteers working with sports clubs who give their time freely for no reward other than the pleasure of seeing others enjoy their sport.

Without these Unsung Heroes many clubs would not exist and thousands of young people would never get a chance to follow the sport they love.

Sport Newcastle are looking for nominations from club committee members, parents or players who would like to recognise the good work of these unsung heroes.

The 10 most deserving Unsung Heroes will be honoured at a special awards evening at Newcastle Falcons Ground, Kingston Park on Tuesday 27th November 2018.

A special award sponsored by JustSport will be presented to the Young Unsung Hero, who must be aged under 21. Two years ago Milly Kyne, a young volunteer at Newcastle’s Hat-Trick charity was awarded the honour.

Milly regularly gave up her free time to help young people in the West End of Newcastle develop their football skills and to promote relationships between fathers and their daughters. She acted as a role model for many young girls and helped them have fun through taking part in sport. She will be starting at Sunderland University this September.

The deadline for nominations to be returned is Monday 1st October.
