Dan Dixon, Sport Newcastle's Young Sporting Achievement of the Year winner in 2021, received exciting news this week from Triathlon England. Due to Jonny Brownlee's recent unfortunate injury, Dan has been selected as his replacement in the England Triathlon team for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, due to start on 22nd July. Jess Baker: Women's Amateur Champion
Jess Baker, 2018 Sport Newcastle Rising Star, recently became only the 5th English winner of the 119th Women's Amateur Championship. Jess came through several rounds of the knock-out competition to beat Swedish golfer Louise Rydquist in the final 4 & 3. SOS for Success at Annual Golf Day
Sport Newcastle's Annual Golf Day took place at Ponteland Golf Club on 30th June. Despite showery weather in the afternoon, 27 teams of 4 players enjoyed a course in excellent condition and a competitive Texas Scramble. The winning team from SOS Group returned an excellent score of 50.1 net. Tier One Capital came 2nd and the team from Northumbria University were 3rd.
