Dan's our man for the Commonwealth's!

Dan Dixon, Sport Newcastle's Young Sporting Achievement of the Year winner in 2021, received exciting news this week from Triathlon England. Due to Jonny Brownlee's recent unfortunate injury, Dan has been selected as his replacement in the England Triathlon team for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, due to start on 22nd July.

Dan, pictured in October receiving his trophy alongside Jonathan Edwards C.B.E. and Ian McElroy, was visibly shocked when he received the news. Dan's first thought was to wish Jonny a speedy recovery, but he then went on to say how thrilled he is to be selected. "It's honestly a really, really special feeling getting selected to compete for Team England at a home games, at 20 years old. It Doesn't get more special than that."

We are certain that Dan will make his family, his club, the region and Sport Newcastle proud. Go Dan, go!
