Helping to 'kickstart' local sport.

Gosforth Rugby Club was one of seven clubs/organisations to receive a grant from Sport Newcastle's Covid-19 Emergency Fund. Neil Jamieson, Gosforth's chairperson (pictured), was delighted with their award. "It will make a tremendous difference and we can now start our training programme post Covid to start attracting kids back to Gosforth and rugby in general."

Other clubs receiving grants were: City of Newcastle Gymnastics Academy, Gateshead Harriers, Newcastle Magpies, Newcastle Fencing & Sports Trust and Newcastle Swim Team. West End community based Hat-Trick also received a grant.

All clubs are planning to use their funds to prepare for a safe, secure environment and to be able to operate in a way that is as close to 'normal' as possible as soon as their sport gets the go ahead to re-start.
