Northumberland cricket board have been awarded the Coaching Success Award. They oversee cricket across the county, including participation in schools and community clubs, also supporting the essentials to deliver such as umpires and ground staff. They have done a huge amount over the years, but they wanted to reach a new audience away from the formal club structure. This is where the Street cricket campaign started, with support from Hat-trick and Northumbria police. All you need is plastic wickets, a tennis ball and a bat with an open space. Since the campaign started more than 200 youngsters aged 8-14 are playing street cricket at eight different venues.
