Sport Newcastle Rising Star 2019- Liam Gibson

Liam Gibson is a 21-year-old footballer from Stanley, county Durham. He’s been training with the first team during 2015/16 and a regular player for the under 23’s throughout 2016/17. For 18 months Liam was fighting a serious illness that had threatened his football life, missing the whole of last season. From his courage and ability, he returned to football midsummer 2018 and Accrington Stanley were keen to take him on loan in January 2019.

“To be training and playing now is kind of surreal. I just feel dead lucky.”
