Sport Newcastle rose from the ashes of the former Newcastle Sports Council and offers funding and support to men, women and children seeking to realise their sporting dream. Whether backing community projects or local clubs, elite international athletes or individuals of regional repute, we aim to promote success through sport.
Run by a dedicated committee of volunteers working under chairman Alan Younger, we meet four times a year to discuss where best to allocate funds and where next to target our support.
The highlight of the Sport Newcastle year is the Annual Dinner staged at Newcastle’s Civic Centre – a star studded affair attended by the city’s sporting heroes past, present and future and culminating in the presentation of the prestigious Sports Personality of the Year award.
